The Walhampton Monument was recently the destination for a party of members of Lymington U3A – the ‘University of the Third Age’.On the beautiful sunny evening of 7th August, some two dozen members of the society met at Lymington Quay, for a walking tour, led by 3 of Lymington’s Town Walks Guides. The U3A members learnt about the town’s past as a port, before moving to view Lymington Town station and the Causeway across the river. After walking along Undershore, they took the ‘Solent Way’ up to the Monument – the first time that many of the party had visited the site. After a thoroughly interesting and enjoyable evening – and as the sun set – many members repaired to the Waggon & Horses.
